• Hey there, lovers of fine art! My name is Noel Anderson but folks generally call me Scotch. I have an insatiable love of B-movies and blame much of who I am upon their influence. I've been a cartoonist for many years and Goof Roof continues to be my toehold in cyberspace. I’ve illustrated and written for numerous humor publications such as CRACKED, HUSTLER and HUSTLER HUMOR, JOKESTER, and THWAK magazines. Seduction Cinema Comics Group published my comic books, Play-Mate of the Apes and SpiderBabe. I worked as a radio personality for close to two decades in good ol’ Fargo, ND and enjoy creating musical and audio parodies in addition to my comic satires, and I'm currently co-editing a magazine called ART RIOT. So, go on… what are you waiting for? Check out the gallery and enjoy everything that’s goofy under one roof. Indeed, that’s why we’re here, my friends! Need to get a hold of me.?

Headlines, T-shirts and self-loathing

Posted by Scotch on May 17th, 2013

Hello, friends. Well, fat with the success of Art Riot issue number one under our belts we have begun on the follow up issue. There’s a lot of really phenomenal artists who have agreed to participate and with any luck it should be available around July. In the meantime, here’s a couple of recent tidbits for you. Thursday, May 16th was Cruisin’ Broadway night in downtown Fargo. Here’s a comic I drew to commemorate the historic event from Thursday’s Forum.

Also, the Fargo Marathon is happening this weekend. Having worked in radio the past eighteen years I’ve become quite accustomed to having to attend this event. Not actually “run”, mind you! Just eat cinnamon rolls, drink coffee, and broadcast from the sideline. Here’s my Headlines Comic for this Friday.

Well, good luck to all the runners. Better you than me. Incidentally, I’m working on a cool artwork design for a long board as well as some cool new t-shirt designs too! I’ll share them next time.

Art Riot in April

Posted by Scotch on March 28th, 2013

rioticon Hey! I’ve actually got something new and exciting in the works! “Yeah, right! Sure you do.” Is that what you’re thinking, you naysayer? I wouldn’t be surprised. In stereotypical fashion of someone who has been doing the same blog for several years, I recently went through a brief patch where I have woefully neglected updating the site. Nothing new there, right? Although, I’m sure a lot of folks don’t feel any great sense of loss when they come to check out Goof Roof and it’s been a week or two since I put up a few of my naughty doodles. You probably just think, “What a lazy bum!” And I am. However, I’ve actually got something new and exciting in the works and it goes to press April 1st! ART RIOT! Fargo’s newest subversive underground art magazine. Yep, and actual, hold-it-in-your-hands, magazine!!

Now before you go thinking I’ve undertaken this monumental task by myself, rest assured I’m in great company. BoneSkot Design Company’s resident madman, Beau Fraase is co-spearheading this venture with moi. And we’ve also managed to get some pretty top-drawer contributors in the first issue. Athena Funk, Billy Black, Super D, Paul Johnson, Bad Weather Burlesque, photographer Anne B. Kiefel, Spider Johnk and numerous others. So keep your eyes, ears, nose and throat open. We’re here to corrupt, and there’s going to be one hell of a launch party coming in April. Make sure to check out our facebook page too!

He’s from Texas. If you see something you like, shoot me and email and I’ll get a shirt made for you. $15.99 black or white quality shirts with the design of your choosing. Contact me at: scotch987@gmail.com or I can also be reached at: scotch987@hotmail.com. Just let me know which design you like or if there’s something you’d like custom made and we can work something out.

Successful Subterfuge

Posted by Scotch on February 19th, 2013

Well, I can say this much. Being unemployed has certainly shifted my focus. Funny how uncertainty can do that to you, isn’t it? You never know when life is gonna pull the rug out from under you so rather than get all comfortable and fat (although it’s a little late for me to prevent the latter) a person needs to leave their mark while they can. It’s all about “making stuff” as far as I’m concerned. And I’m very excited to say I’m working on a project with some VERY talented artists in the Fargo area. I won’t tell you what it is yet, but I guarantee it’s going to be creative, and subversive and everything that’s great about being an artist all rolled-up into one sweet little package! Yep, making stuff, baby! Here’s a couple of headlines I illustrated from last weeks Forum. Seeing as this is an ART blog, I can’t very well go posting stuff without a little window dressing. Am I right?

Whole Lotta’ Warhol

Posted by Scotch on January 30th, 2013

Plains Art Museum has the first solo exhibition of Andy Warhol to be presented in the Fargo-Moorhead area and I’m pretty excited to check it out. Andy Warhol: Creating Myth and Icon brings to our region a nationally-known collection of 36 prints, including two of Warhol’s last series: Cowboys and Indians and Myth! It’s happening Feb. 3rd through May 19th. Here’s something I did for The Forum about it.
