• Hey there, lovers of fine art! My name is Noel Anderson but folks generally call me Scotch. I have an insatiable love of B-movies and blame much of who I am upon their influence. I've been a cartoonist for many years and Goof Roof continues to be my toehold in cyberspace. I’ve illustrated and written for numerous humor publications such as CRACKED, HUSTLER and HUSTLER HUMOR, JOKESTER, and THWAK magazines. Seduction Cinema Comics Group published my comic books, Play-Mate of the Apes and SpiderBabe. I worked as a radio personality for close to two decades in good ol’ Fargo, ND and enjoy creating musical and audio parodies in addition to my comic satires, and I'm currently co-editing a magazine called ART RIOT. So, go on… what are you waiting for? Check out the gallery and enjoy everything that’s goofy under one roof. Indeed, that’s why we’re here, my friends! Need to get a hold of me.?

Cheap Plug Department

I just felt like doing a little drawing for the sake of doing a little drawing. I guess it’s…an ad? I dunno. Now, I’m about to venture out on these muddy rural roads so I can drop off some paintings at the Hawley Community Building for the art show next week. Can’t wait to see all the other artwork.

Abstract 2: Electric Boogaloo!

So, here it is…Friday night, March 20th and I just put the final touches on my second experiment with abstract expression in acryllic. Well, for the most part it’s ALMOST all abstract. (I couldn’t resist putting some eyeballs in there as you can see. Call it a weakness.) Anyhoo, time permitting, I may bust out one more piece of ‘low-brow art product’ before the art show…although, with the forthcoming flood we’re expecting I may be spending a bit more time at the radio station than home with a brush in my hand. Sigh…no rest for the wicked, chump!

Spinal Tap Reunion and Album!

Posted by Scotch on March 2nd, 2009

tap.jpg I’m sure I’m not the only one who remembers Spinal Tap being a very big influence on their life when they were a kid. I remember it was 1984 and I saw this article in a magazine in the school library about this forthcoming mockumentary. I was 14 years old. I convinced a handful of friends that we HAD to see this movie when it came out. Brother, I would never feel the same way about how I approach making music ever again!

That’s why I was so excited to hear that SPINAL TAP was working on a 25th Anniversary “comeback” album. Then, today I read this in Billboard…Christopher Guest, Michael McKean and Harry Shearer are leaving the costumes and wigs at home but will still play the music of their cinematic alter egos Spinal Tap, as well as the Folksmen from “A Mighty Wind” on a 30-date concert tour this spring. How awesome is that?!

The six-week theater trek, dubbed Unwigged & Unplugged: An Evening with Christopher Guest, Michael McKean and Harry Shearer, kicks off April 17 in Vancouver and runs through May 31 in Milwaukee. Tickets go on sale starting Friday (March 6).

“We’ve never gone out as ourselves,” Shearer said Monday during a webcast teleconference at the House of Blues in Los Angeles. “It’s interesting; after playing characters all these years, we’re having meetings trying to figure out who WE are…We have to ask ourselves, ‘What would WE do?’”

The shows’ repertoire will be drawn from the two Spinal Tap albums — “This is Spinal Tap” and “Break Like the Wind” — as well as the soundtrack to the Guest-directed “A Mighty Wind.” At the press conference Guest, McKean and Shearer played a short set that included Spinal Tap’s “Hell Hole” and “Sex Farm” and “Old Joe’s Place” from “A Mighty Wind.”
