• Hey there, lovers of fine art! My name is Noel Anderson but folks generally call me Scotch. I have an insatiable love of B-movies and blame much of who I am upon their influence. I've been a cartoonist for many years and Goof Roof continues to be my toehold in cyberspace. I’ve illustrated and written for numerous humor publications such as CRACKED, HUSTLER and HUSTLER HUMOR, JOKESTER, and THWAK magazines. Seduction Cinema Comics Group published my comic books, Play-Mate of the Apes and SpiderBabe. I worked as a radio personality for close to two decades in good ol’ Fargo, ND and enjoy creating musical and audio parodies in addition to my comic satires, and I'm currently co-editing a magazine called ART RIOT. So, go on… what are you waiting for? Check out the gallery and enjoy everything that’s goofy under one roof. Indeed, that’s why we’re here, my friends! Need to get a hold of me.?

Modern Man Show at DK Framing @ Gallery 14!

So, this last Thursday, Feb. 24th, I went to see Modern Man’s latest artwork at Denise Knutson’s Gallery 14. That’s the Supreme Genius up there between myself and Punchgut. I had heard that the art on display would feature potty-heads and babies squashed so naturally I was enthusiastic…not everyday you get to see that sort of thing, right? What I didn’t expect is that it would simply be one piece! That’s right, a single piece of artwork…an 11-foot stretched canvas featuring multiple brilliant, but grotesque images! What I really hadn’t expected was that I would actually be IN the painting!
mod2 What a surprise. All I can say is too freakin’ cool! Apparently, these images all come from Modern Man’s sketches and according to him illustrates the cycle of life from old to young. Modern also remarked that our heads are filled with shit from the day that we’re born. I’m not sure what the baby being squashed represents, but it’s sort of fun in a macabre way that it’s me doing the squashing! All I can say is only Modern Man could get away with having a show with only one piece of art. In fact, during the q & a somebody asked him where all of the other art was and he simply responded that it was out in a trailer. I love it! Below is my friend, and fellow local artist Punchgut, enjoying a little interactive-art Sniff-O-Rama! Breathe deeply, old chum…breathe deeply!

Anyhoo, I couldn’t have had a better time at the show and loved hanging out at Denise’s wonderful gallery at 14 Robert Street North, Downtown Fargo and hope to see more of Modern’s crazy artwork on display elsewhere in Fargo soon! Here’s Denise saying a few words the night of the show in front of Modern’s painting.

HUSTLER Humor Spring Issue has arrived!

Posted by Scotch on February 13th, 2011

honey5 I know Spring doesn’t officially start until March 20th but I’ll be damned if the new HUSTLER Humor doesn’t make me feel tingly all over! That sweet-ass Tom Simonton’s retrotastic Conan cover is a great place to start. Note that I’m saying the artwork on the cover is sweet-ass and not that Tom Simonton has a sweet ass…I don’t know him well enough to make that sort of judgement. This issue contains a classic Honey Hooker piece by Tom Garst and Bruce Helford, in addition to some great gag ‘toons by Bob Muleady, John Billette, Dan Collins, George Trosley and George Winners. Also, my Big Bang Theory parody finally made it in. A must-read, and I’m not just saying that because it’s mine. Okay, actually I am.

There’s top notch jokes, as you’ll find in every ish of HUSTLER Humor, and Aaron Warner has the first installment of a hilarious new cartoon feature titled June Cleavage and The Beaver that looks very promising. Oh, and there’s a great sampling of Drew Friedman’s new book, Too Soon? Drew Friedman is an amazing artist and this sampling alone makes picking up HH Vol.33, no.1 worth it! Oh, and I may have neglected to mention that there’s lots of pictures of naked women in this issue! Now, go get it!!

Mega Python vs Gatoroid review

Posted by Scotch on February 5th, 2011

megapythongatoroid1 When one tries to define what a cult film is, it’s usually explained as a movie that has an extremely devoted but specific group of fans. The SyFy Channel, and more specifically, The Asylum has definitely carved out a niche in the could-be-a-cult-film phenomenon. Now, obviously these creature features aren’t for everyone, but Mega Python vs Gatoroid certainly did it for me. Why exactly? I would say, it was a number of things that give MPVG the potential to attain cult status. Now, whether or not you think these various ingredients make the film seem a tad contrived is subjective. Either way, The Asylum has come a helluva long way since Super Croc. The tone was light, very campy and quite funny….and that catfight between Debbie Gibson and Tiffany had been a long time coming, brother! Tiffany had so much cleavage on display I thought I was watching a Russ Meyer film. Huzzah!

Monkee fans are going to find the Mickey Dolenz cameo to be a real gutbuster, and I enjoyed A. Martinez as a surly herpetologist who discovers how out of control the swamps have truly become! It’s also hard to beat awesome dialogue, delivered straight-faced, such as, “Feeding steroids to gators. There’s nothing crazy about this…what can go wrong?” or Tiffany’s boyfriend telling her, “Later, Gator!” Mega Python vs Gatoroid was sheer genius in its cheesiness and ridiculousness. Especially the scene in which an entire group of people attending a party pull out huge guns to defend themselves! And that ending…I can honestly say I never expected.

Check out more at THE ASYLUM. Later, Gator
